I recently read somewhere that “all marketing is niche marketing.” I do not entirely agree with that - I would say that “almost all the marketing is niche marketing.”
Niche marketing is the marketing of products or services to groups of people (or companies) that have specific needs or interests in. Major online stores and its cousins do not fit that description, but almost everything else is … you guessed it, “niche market”.
In the physical world, your local butchers, bakers and candle maker (sorry, a little joke there - very little), vegetables, shoes, etc, etc to meet all market niches, some more focused than others.
And in the world online, any website which focuses on a particular topic is a niche web site which describes the vast majority of websites online today and in the past. Therefore, those who are marketing any product or service you are probably already on “niche markets” and may not even know it.
Some niches are more crowded and competitive than others. Focusing on niche marketing on the Internet and make money on the Internet are probably the most crowded and competitive online, and increasingly so every day.
It is increasingly difficult for people just entering the market to make any inroads, not to mention a big impact.
However, do not worry, there are many other niches that are far less crowded and competitive.
The current emphasis on “niche marketing” could probably be termed more precisely;
“Niche Marketing other than “making money” niche. ”
that opens up many possibilities for people starting in online business.
Do you have a hobby or pastime? A sport? What are your interests, you are passionate or obsessed with a particular subject or activity? (keep it clean, folks)
If so, it is likely that there are other people who share the same interest and that is a potential niche market! The same applies to any other hobbies and interests that you could name.
More research is needed to determine if a niche or a “sub-niche” is likely to be profitable.
For example, you must visit:
1. Demand - how many people are related to search online for information and / or products.
2. Competition - as many other websites or companies are already catering to this market?
3. Are people actually spend money in this niche?
Now that everything is okay, but …
How to find out all that?
